Welcome to SoloSight
SoloSight is a free, open-source, USB webcam app designed for me. I'm cheap, sometimes broke, and don't want to pay hundreds of dollars for a GoPro setup to film around my vehicle.

I do a lot of solo off-roading and usually don't have someone to spot me. I wanted to be able to use some old USB webcams as 'trail cams' around my rig to watch my tires, see what's over the hill, and where my diffs were headed. I started by using OBS software, but it didn't have the simplicity or features I wanted.

Now, I know about as much Python and C++ as your average 4-year-old so I used quite a bit of Googling and AI to build this app. Because of that, you'll find that SoloSight is very barebones, and the UI is not polished yet. I am not a programmer, I don't know what I'm doing, and I can barely get this thing to work but, by some miracle, I've created a working app.

SoloSight is currently in Beta which just means that it has it's core features working but there are additonal functions that I plan on adding as well as polishing the UI to make it more user friendly.

Poke around the site, get to know the app and find out if it's a good fit for you.

On this site, you'll also find the downloads page where you can download the .exe version of the app if you just want to use it right away, or you can download all of the source code and run it directly from python.

SoloSight currently, only works on Windows machines. I am working on an Android compatible version for use with smartphones and tablets however, Android does not play well with USB cameras, so it'll take a hot minute. Meanwhile, the Windows version will continute to be developed.
